Spark is a one-year, rigorous, field-based teacher preparation program. Program completers are eligible to apply for a teaching license in the state of Vermont. Intensive weekly seminars are the backbone of the program. Spark fosters critical inquiry of social, economic, and political relationships globally and locally. At the same time, Spark helps teachers develop the skills, knowledge, and compassion required for creating equitable, challenging and engaging learning environments for all.
Unlike most credentialing programs, Spark students spend a full year in a school setting while completing coursework and participating in seminars. The hands-on experience in classrooms, combined with inquiry and reflecting study, qualifies candidates to apply for a Vermont teaching license in their chosen grade level and subject area.
